Ball Stores was *the* downtown department store in Muncie from the 1930s up until closure in the late 1980s. The five floor structure on the souteast corner of Walnut and Charles, was considered to many the center of local commerce, with different departments merchandized as "stores" for the Ball Store*s* concept.
