Video Stop Rental Store

Video Stop was one of Muncie’s local video rental chains, and was prolific, with five locations. They offered vhs rentals and sales, as well as video game rentals, like Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. They opened on Wheeling near Northwest Plaza in 1987, and opened locations on McGalliard and Memorial within two years.

Video Stop and a softball and basketball team in local business leagues, the basketball team often dominating. A North Wheeling location and Madison St. location were added in 1991, but with increasing competition from national chains like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video opening locally, the days of Video Stop were numbered.  The final location closed in 2001.
