Taco Tico Restaurant

Taco Tico Restaurant

Taco Tico was a fast service taco chain that had three locations in Muncie. The first location opened in 1975 on Tillotson, and a location on McGalliard was built just a year later. They served specials like the chili burrito, sancho, and crustos, as well as regular empanadas, tacos, and burritos.

A location on Madison St. opened in 1978. The McGalliard location closed in 1979, and became Uncle Dan’s BBQ.The local locations of Taco Tico changed their name to Taco Casita in late 1983 after the franchise contract was not renewed, and they added new menu items, like potato skins, and all food was now prepared fresh.

Taco Casita was closed by 1984. The Tillotson location is now the site of Dunkin, the Mcgalliard site is now part of Tire Barn, and the Madison location is now a liquor store. There are still several Taco Tico locations in states like Kentucky and Kansas, but none remain in Indiana.
