Hungry Farmer Restaurant

Hungry Farmer Restaurant

The Hungry Farmer Restaurant was a short-lived restaurant endeavor that opened in 1983 on Wheeling. They served country-style food, like ribs, fried chicken, and country fried steak. The owner added onto the building in 1984, adding 80 seats, to make a 200 guest capacity.

The Hungry Farmer expanded to a second location on Madison St in 1985, but closed in early 1986. The original Wheeling location closed three months later due to lack of business, despite claims it was doing well. The building was briefly the site of Sizzlin’ Catfish before becoming the first Steak and Shake restaurant in Muncie, then was Ford’s Formal Wear. The building was demolished in 2019, and is now the site of the current Domo restaurant on Wheeling.
