Furrow Building Materials

Furrow Building Materials

Furrow Building Materials was a hardware store and lumber yard, perfect for the DIY builder, that opened in April 1980 on State Road 3. Furrow was owned by Payless Cashways inc., who were a chain specializing in building materials.

The store was 66,000 square feet, with a garden center, lumber storage, a warehouse, and office. They sold building materials of all types, as well as appliances and bathroom fixtures.

Furrow Building Materials eventually franchised to Indianapolis, Anderson, and Kokomo, but the parent company went bankrupt in 2001, and liquidated all their Furrow stores, among the 40 total stores closed. It was located at the current site of Carter Lumber.
