Nickel Plate Railroad

Nickel Plate Railroad

The Nickel Plate Railroad, formally known as the New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad, was a vital freight and passenger line established in 1881. Notably passing through Muncie, Indiana, it significantly contributed to the city's growth. However, due to industry consolidation and evolving transportation needs, it was bought out by Norfolk & Western in 1964 and ceased to exist.
