Muncie's last neighborhood grocery market and one of the city's longest operating butchers, Gommel's Market was a mainstay of the Thomas Park and Avondale neighborhoods, commanding a prime location at the corner of 9th and Port. In operation for over 40 years, Gommel's also had an active wholesaling operation. The market closed in the late 1990s.
